Precious Remedies Against Satan’s Devices

Precious Remedies Against Satan’s Devices

Thomas Brooks on the Remedy for the Devil’s Accusations

The remedy against these devices of Satan is to look upon all your sins as charged to the account of Christ, as debts that the Lord Jesus has fully satisfied.

“All our sins were made to rest upon Christ . . . He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.”

You know the wife who said to the bill collector, “If I owe you anything go to my husband.” So may the believer say to the law, and to the justice of God, or to the devil, if I owe you anything, go to my Christ, who has done all things for me.

I must not sit down discouraged, under the fear of those debts, which Christ, to the utmost cost, has fully satisfied. To sit down discouraged when the debt of it is satisfied, is a sin that deserves repentance.

Their discouragements under sin flow from ignorance and unbelief. It springs from their ignorance of the richness, freeness, fullness, and everlastingness of God’s love; and from their ignorance of the power, glory, fullness, largeness, and completeness of the righteousness of Jesus Christ

If precious souls know and believe the truth of these things as they should, they would not sit down dejected and overwhelmed under the sense and operation of sin.”
